A conure, a rope toy, and a claw that would not come free
Nayeb Birds is a sole proprietorship based in Hyderabad, Telangana, operating online as Lavora Bazaar (lavorabazaar.shop).
How this started
A green-cheek conure in Hyderabad and a rope toy that looked wonderful for about three weeks. Then the rope began to fray, the frays became loops, and one evening a claw went through one and would not come back out. Getting him free took two people and a pair of scissors.
The toy was not defective. Cotton rope frays — that is what it does — and a fraying loop is a snare. What was missing was anyone saying so, or offering the sisal and paper alternatives that shred instead of unravelling.
A bird toy is meant to be destroyed. The only question is what it turns into on the way.
Our commitment
No fraying loops
Cotton rope that unravels into nooses is not stocked here, at any margin. Sisal, paper and untreated wood shred instead.
Bird-safe materials
Untreated wood, food-grade dye, stainless or nickel-plated hardware. No zinc, no galvanised clips, no varnish.
Sized by species
Every listing says which size of bird it is for. A budgie toy in a macaw cage is destroyed in a minute and the pieces are the hazard.
Our story
We stock things that are meant to be wrecked. A toy that survives a year has failed at its job — foraging and shredding are how a parrot spends its day, and a bored bird starts plucking instead.
So the advice on every page is to rotate toys weekly rather than leave the same four hanging for months, and to bin a toy once the pieces get small enough to swallow. That advice sells more toys, which is awkward, so here is the other half of it: three rotated toys beat eight permanent ones.
Online only
There is no showroom and no walk-in counter. Lavora Bazaar trades entirely online and ships across India from Hyderabad, Telangana, which keeps overheads off the price of the goods.
